There is still work to be done

Arlington entered FY 2012 with stronger schools and town services because of the hard work of countless volunteers. The voters placed their trust in the town and in our message that the town would use the taxpayers’ money wisely.

Although the fight to win the override is done, citizens have a responsibility to stay informed, to make sure the town and schools spend wisely and to influence changes at the state level that will improve Arlington’s long term revenue issues.

Kathy Bodie and Brian Sullivan have written a letter (PDF) expressing their gratitude for the campaign and encouraging volunteers to stay involved. Citizens who are educated and work together are a powerful force!

The voters turned out and their voices were heard. The result is that the YES vote carried the day on June 7, with Arlington voters approving a $6.5 million override by a margin of 7,226 to 6,369. Thank you for all your support!

After an amazing effort of hundreds of volunteers over the past two months, all that is left is to Get Out the Vote!

The polls open at 7 am. Vote early and save a phone call!
Remind family, friends and neighbors. We need every supporter to vote!
If you can’t get to the polls Tuesday, the deadline to cast an absentee ballot is Monday at 12 noon in the clerk’s office. See our voting information page for details, and pass the link along to any friends or neighbors who want to vote yes but will be away Tuesday.

After weeks of work by supporters, we are just days away from Election Day, June 7th. Here’s what you can do this final week:

Make sure the people you know are signed up if they’re voting Yes — your spouse, significant other, neighbors and friends in town. We need to identify as many Yes voters as possible.
Send an email to remind supporters that the election is Tuesday, June 7th.
Sign up to volunteer on Election Day. We need everyone to help Get Out The Vote!
Put voting on your calendar for Tuesday and remember, voting early saves a phone call.
Change your Facebook picture to the campaign logo.

Thanks to everyone who was able to make it to the Campaign Kickoff on Sunday. It was great to see so many of you there, showing your support and volunteering to help. The campaign is off to a great start!

We have a lot of work to do leading up to election day. There are many ways you can help:

Community outreach (organize coffees, new voter registration, etc)
Write a letter to the editor
Help distribute literature across town
Contact neighbors in your precinct
Help out on Election Day
